COIN INFORMATION

Perth Mint introduced the Next Generation Series of silver bullion coins in 2018. Like many other collections from the Western Australia-based mint, this collection offers images of native wildlife species from the continent. The series has offered nothing short of a stunning look at the maternal bond between some of the continents most famous, and sometimes deadly, creatures, and their young.

A tiny newborn kangaroo crawls into its mother’s pouch where it receives nourishment and protection until it feels safe enough to emerge for increasing periods of time. Eventually able to stand on its own two feet, the young ‘joey’ soon learns to hop alongside its watchful parent.

On the obverse The coin portrays an image of a kangaroo and its joey in scrubland. Included in the design are radial lines suggestive of the setting sun, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.

The reverse side of the coin bears The Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse, featuring the Jody Clark effigy supplemented with the dates of Her Majesty’s reign. As well as radial lines, the obverse also includes the coin’s weight, purity, monetary denomination and 2023 year-date.
